Sophie’s Law passes in Queensland

Included in an Omnibus Bill ‘The Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2023’ which was passed in the Queensland Parliament was a welcome amendment to recognise ‘the deaths of unborn children as a result of criminal conduct’.

Australian Christian Lobby’s Queensland Director, Rob Norman said, “We celebrate the enactment of Sophie’s Law, named after Sophie Milosevic, the unborn baby who died in vitro at 39 weeks gestation as a result of a car accident in which a drunk and drug-affected driver ploughed into the Milosevic family car in 2014.

“The passing of this Bill is a great achievement, and relief, for Sarah and Peter Milosevic who have lobbied tirelessly for the recognition of their daughter’s life.”

The Australian Christian Lobby commends the Queensland Parliament for passing Sophie’s Law, recognising that unborn children are human beings and deserve the same protection and respect as all human beings.
