Another day, Another Article Condemning Gender-Affirming Guidelines

A new article has been released by academic psychiatrist Dr. Andrew Amos, highlighting the fact that the gender-affirming model of care is incompatible with competent, ethical medical practice.

The article, published on March 19, notes that gender-affirming guidelines forbid the application of core psychiatric competencies in the assessment of ‘gender-diversity’.

Joshua Rowe, NSW/ACT State Director for the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL), said, “It’s another day and another article condemning current gender-affirming guidelines. When will our government officials wake up to this medical scandal?”

Mr. Rowe continued, “Evidence-based medicine has been supplanted by an ideological political objective to expand personal autonomy. Consequently, there is a breakdown in the process of competent clinical reasoning, evidence that current guidelines are incompatible with ethical medical practice.

“The ignoring of mounting evidence of the dangers of gender-affirmation treatment reveals a stubborn political blindness, especially when it is released days before the NSW Labor Government is set to rush legislation through that protects this unethical practice.”

“There is a concerning lack of high-quality evidence to offer any precedent to these therapeutic interventions. Much less, evidence to support the government introducing a bill to regulate and stifle other forms of ethical and competent clinical care”.

Rowe concluded, “Be it in medicine or politics, the fixation on personal autonomy at the cost of evidence-based care has gone too far. Some of the most vulnerable in our society are being irreversibly harmed. The political system is letting them down.”
