Fentiman’s Double Standard on Tragic Baby Deaths

A clinical review has been called for by Queensland’s Health Minister, Shannon Fentiman, who has expressed concern regarding the State’s rising number of deaths of babies. Ms Fentiman said, “I want this review to look into why we have a high level of stillbirths”.

National Director of the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL), Wendy Francis, said, “Minister Fentiman has highlighted a blatant double standard. On the one hand she wants to reduce the number of Qld babies dying before they are born, whilst at the same time, championing abortion up until birth.

“In both cases a baby has lost their life. However, if a wanted baby dies before birth it is a tragedy that must be addressed, but if a baby is purposely killed before birth, Ms Fentiman would have us believe that it is ‘health care’.

“Ms Fentiman continues to champion more liberal abortion laws with her push for Queensland to be the first Australian State to allow midwives and nurses to prescribe abortion pills”.

The ACL calls on the Queensland government to treat every Queensland baby equally and abandon their push for more and more liberal laws, resulting in more and more abortions.
