New Evidence Strengthens the Case Against Transition

A groundbreaking study published by the British Medical Journal (BMJ) has uncovered the truth that medical gender transition does not correlate with a reduction in suicide rates among gender dysphoric young individuals. Instead, the study suggests that the causes of suicide in this demographic are linked to psychiatric co-morbidities.

This discovery echoes Australian research indicating that those identifying as ‘gender diverse’ have faced elevated levels of child maltreatment, including physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, and exposure to domestic violence.

Emphasising the significance of these findings in relation to the upcoming parliamentary debate on Alex Greenwich’s ‘Equality Bill’ (March 14), Joshua Rowe, the NSW/ACT Director for the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL), said, “The ‘Equality Bill’ will drive a wedge between parents and children. The proposed amendments to the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act would lead to the exclusion of parents from their child’s decision to undergo gender transition.

Rowe remarked, “The bill operates on the mistaken assumption that a parent who is unwilling to ‘affirm’ a child’s self-designated gender is a danger to the child’s welfare. Contrary evidence is continually emerging, challenging these assumptions and highlighting the dangers these laws pose to the well-being of children and families.”

He continued, “Contrary to what research is showing to be in the best interests of children, parents are being advised that if their child is questioning their gender, the safe response is to consider the transition process for the sake of their child’s mental health. In reality, a child’s wellbeing is best served by addressing any psychiatric co-morbidities or childhood trauma through holistic care.”

“With evidence highlighting the connection between an LGBTQI+ identity and higher rates of childhood trauma, the New South Wales medical system has a duty to ensure associated mental health challenges are appropriately addressed. The one-sided approach advocated for by Alex Greenwich, ‘Equality Australia’, and other gender theorists is unevidenced and harmful.”

Rowe concluded, “Activist claims that parents must choose between a trans child or a dead child are both inaccurate and unfair.”

The ACL strongly urges the New South Wales Government to abandon Alex Greenwich’s Equality Bill and implement a more holistic healthcare process for children with gender dysphoria.
