Lax drug laws ruin lives

A new study published in Emergency Medicine Australia (attached) revealed that alcohol and other drugs were detected in 47% of cases of intentional self-harm and 69% in cases of interpersonal violence.

Wendy Francis, National Director, Politics of the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL), said, “If Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews, cares about the welfare of the people in his State, he will take notice of the proven negative effects that illicit drugs have on the well-being of Australia and abandon any plans for another drug injecting room. More drugs will result in more hurt people and ruined lives.”

She said, “The research is in. It’s time to reject the outdated drug-friendly policies of the Victorian government.”

The ACL calls on all Australian Governments to increase the fight against drugs and, in doing so, reduce incidents of violence and major injuries.
