Voters across several NSW electorates have received flyers this week putting the spotlight on their local state member’s vote on abortion.

The targeted electorates all belong to Nationals MPs who voted for the radical abortion bill that allows abortion right up until the final moment of pregnancy.

Deputy Premier and leader of the Nationals, John Barilaro, was among the MPs whose electorate received the flyers.

The flyers were authorised and published by the Australian Christian Lobby.

Kieren Jackson, NSW Director for the Australian Christian Lobby, explained the reason for the flyers:

“This bill is an extreme piece of work, it allows late-term abortion, sex-selective abortion, and does nothing to protect babies born alive as a result of an abortion attempt.”

“The fact that only two Nationals Party MPs out of thirteen voted against the bill shows just how out of touch the party is on this issue,” Mr Jackson said.

“Nationals MPs in the upper house now have an opportunity to show they have woken up to the extreme nature of this bill,” Mr Jackson said.

“We have seen how this issue has damaged the Liberal Party, but it’s also damaged the Nationals who have shown themselves to be out of touch with their voter base.”

The delivery of the flyers follows protests outside National Party branch meetings in Gunnedah last week and Tamworth last night where hundreds of locals protested Nationals MP Kevin Anderson’s vote for the bill. Mr Anderson addressed the crowd and promised he would speak to his colleagues.

The Australian Christian Lobby has not ruled out expanding their campaign to target other MPs who voted for the dangerous bill.

The MPs and seats that received the flyers are:

1.     John Barilaro, Member for Monaro

2.     Dugald Saunders, Member for Dubbo

3.     Gurmesh Singh, Member for Coffs Harbour

4.     Leslie Williams, Member for Port Macquarie

5.     Adam Marshall, Member for Northern Tablelands

6.     Steph Cooke, Member for Cootamundra
