Decriminalising Prostitution Will Harm Our Kids

The Australian Christian Lobby is urging all Legislative Council members to reject the Green’s prostitution decriminalisation bill in light of the news that girls and boys as young as 13 are being propositioned for sex on Hanson Road.

“All members should consider this more than enough cause to vote against the radical decriminalisation bill. If not, the same outrage will be able to occur on any street in SA,” warned state director Christopher Brohier.

“Our children should never be exposed to this kind of shocking proposition. Make no mistake, the decriminalisation bill will do nothing but exacerbate the issue.”

“The Greens’ MLC Tammy Franks’ proposed bill does not address the fact that the propositioning is being done by disgraceful men who currently have no fear of prosecution.”

“Her bill will do nothing but perpetuate an already growing issue seen in other jurisdictions; decriminalisation brings a burgeoning of prostitution.”

Mr Brohier is concerned that the Franks’ bill also does not address the reality that decriminalisation will allow prostitution anywhere.

The Australian Christian Lobby calls on the South Australian upper house members to reject the Greens’ Bill and adopt instead the Nordic Model of prostitution law reform which criminalises the conduct of buyers and introduces meaningful exit strategies for women.
