Radical abortion bill tabled in QLD parliament

The Australian Christian Lobby has condemned Jackie Trad’s radical abortion bill which was introduced in parliament today.

“The bill is just as radical as we thought. Allowing abortion on demand until 22 weeks, and then up to birth with the only prerequisite being approval from one other doctor,” said Wendy Francis, ACL’s state director.

“Jackie Trad’s personal crusade goes further, forcing Doctors who conscientiously object to refer patients to a Doctor who will perform the abortion. To make matters worse, hospitals will not be granted this same exemption, which means church hospitals won’t have freedom to conscientiously object at all.”

“It also has no protections for women who are threatened or coerced into having an abortion, making it one of the most dangerous bills for vulnerable women,” commented Mrs Francis.
