Tasmania funds counselling for mothers with unplanned pregnancies

A move by the Tasmanian government to increase funding to Pregnancy Counselling and Support Tasmania is welcomed by Australian Christian Lobby.

PCST provides free crisis and grief counselling, support service referrals, pregnancy testing, home help and baby clothes bundles to pregnant women and girls, their babies and the fathers involved.

ACL Tasmanian director Mark Brown said, “Increased funding to PCST shows that the Liberal government is serious about giving Tasmanian women the best possible holistic care when experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.”

“Abortion is not just another operation, it ends the life of an innocent child and harms the mother.”

Mother’s with unexpected pregnancies need support, and to be fully informed of their options and the consequences of each.

Many Tasmanians would be unaware of the existence of services aimed at supporting mother’s and families in keeping or adopting out their unexpected babies.
