QLD LNP oppose euthanasia

Queensland Liberal National Party has voted to oppose euthanasia and assisted suicide legislation at their state conference on the weekend, a move commended by Australian Christian Lobby.

Wendy Francis, ACL Queensland director said, “It is encouraging to see the LNP providing bipartisan support to the government’s decision not to table euthanasia legislation in this term of government.”

“Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has previously told parliament that until she can look closely at the implementation of Victoria’s euthanasia laws the government will not consider euthanasia legislation.”

“The bipartisan support to not introduce assisted suicide is to be applauded, because what we do know is that every jurisdiction that has implemented euthanasia vulnerable people are coerced to die often by cultural pressure.” Wendy Francis commented.

The current Victorian state sanctioned suicide scheme is set to start in June 2019, however the lethal cocktail to be used to kill the patient is yet to be determined.
