Andrews’ Departure from the Victorian Parliament

After vowing to run full term, the shock resignation today of Dan Andrews from his role as the Premier of Victoria and the Member of Mulgrave has been met with mixed responses.

Victorian State Director for the Australian Christian Lobby (ACL), Jasmine Yuen, said “In his years in parliament, Andrews has created many controversies, but none more concerning than his restriction of freedom of faith, speech and expression. Along the way he oversaw the legalisation of abortion to birth and euthanasia, he trounced parental rights, introduced gender fluid indoctrination into our children’s schools, and criminalised prayer for someone with unwanted gender confusion.

“During COVID he locked Victorians in their houses, and even allowed them to be shot at with rubber bullets. There will be many who are not sorry to see his time at the top end. ACL wishes him and his family well.”

The ACL looks forward to working with the Labor Party of Victoria under a new leadership, and calls on the new Premier to be open for dialogue on issues that concern the faith communities and to govern for all Victorians to achieve true equality and inclusivity.
